History
The engineering and metal machining pedigree has been the core of the Vanacore identity for approximately 70 years and spans 3 generations. Founder, Luis Vanacore, was born and raised in the famously picturesque working-class town of La Boca located in the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires. Luis began his machining career at the age of 18 while observing and learning from his highly skilled machinist father who worked on a conventional lathe. And on the days he and his father were not cheering for local soccer club champions Boca Juniors at the nearby Bombonera Stadium, they would work together to sharpen Luis’s machining skills.
In 1982, Luis moved his family to the United States of America. Arriving in the U.S. with no money and speaking very little English, he brought with him the kind of hopes, dreams and ambition that so many other immigrants bring with them: achieving the “American Dream.” He continued his career by working as a machine operator for various companies in the San Fernando Valley, where his meticulous nature would not go unnoticed. He began to steadily move up the corporate ladder. Promoted several times, he eventually reached a managerial position at a local machine shop, where he led a team of approximately 30 operators in the turning department. In the year 2000, he and a colleague opened up a small job shop in Sylmar, California with only 2 machines that they each would run, a lathe and a mill. But his dream had always been to have full control of his own machine shop, with his family by his side.
Luis Vanacore
2nd generation machinist, founder of Vanacore Engineering
In 2006, Luis and Mirta founded Vanacore Engineering Inc. Luis would push forward during the early years of the company, successfully navigating the recession days, and putting us on the map by word of mouth. Luis’s dedication and devotion to his family poured over into every aspect of the way he conducted his business, and he was committed to providing his customers with high quality products, quick turnaround times, and competitive pricing. He employed a company philosophy centered around hard work, dedication, excellence, integrity and respect, which would become the pillars of our company values:
-
- Hard work
- Dedication to meet and exceed customer needs
- Excellence and a commitment to quality
- Integrity in our work and in our word
- Respect for people and industry
Diego Vanacore
3rd generation machinist, current President & CEO of Vanacore Engineering.
A few years later, Luis and Mirta’s son Diego joined the company. Fresh out of high school, Diego had dreams to follow in his father’s footsteps and learn the trade with his father as mentor. It was history repeating itself. In the beginning, Diego would shadow his father around the shop determined to learn the ins and outs of operating, setting up and programming the CNC machines we use today. Diego excelled in the field and was ultimately put in charge of the milling and quality departments, while at the same time focusing his attention on customer relations.
Luis and Mirta’s daughter Cecilia joined the company in mid-2018, when Luis became ill. She became the office manager, handling payroll, staffing, accounts payable/receivable, as well as purchasing and contract review. She is a UCLA graduate with a bachelor degree in anthropology and a certificate in paralegal studies. Having worked for various boutique law firms as a paralegal, as well as in-house for big well-known companies, she brought legal, marketing and human resources experience with her. She was also involved in the implementation of AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS) and certification was achieved in January 2022.
